The New Eat Local Iowa
Since I started this blog several years ago, my habits as well as my intentions for this blog have changed. I’ve had another child, moved into a new home, and my husband and I together began making even better choices for our family in terms of how we eat, what we eat, and where we get our food. This is a work in progress, nothing happens overnight. We are still working on many of these changes, and in comparison to some, we are still WAY behind the curve. But we’re learning, and we’re sharing, which is what this blog is about.
So rather than this blog being solely about eating at local restaurants, we’re going to start looking into more sustainable ways to eat, more eating from scratch at home with good foods, preserving your garden or your market finds, looking at local organic/self sustaining farms, homesteading, and eating more naturally rather than just simply going out to eat. However, eating locally will still be a big part of this blog.
I hope you enjoy the new changes and I hope you find some inspiration. Even if it’s just to try making your own butter, or pick up some grass fed beef from the farmer’s market, or even something as simple as stopping for some farm fresh eggs. I want this to be a resource for you and a journey for us.
